Listen to Obituary

RUSSELL J. BOUCHEZ, of North Royalton, Ohio, passed away on Sunday April 24, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Middletown, Ohio. He was 89. Russ was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 22, 1927 and grew up in Massillon, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran who was stationed in Korea at the end of WWII, where he served as a diesel mechanic and chaplain’s assistant. After graduating from University of Dayton with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1957, Russ worked for the Alcoa Aluminum Company, where he met his wife Mary Lynn (nee Jones) of Parma, Ohio. They were married in 1961. In 1964, Russ moved with his young family to Dearborn, Michigan to join Ford Motor Company as a product development engineer. At Ford, Russ, a Professional Engineer (PE), was the recipient of numerous innovation awards for improvements to company products and processes. He was a crack mechanic who could fix anything you put in front of him and a generous spirit who was always there for you when you needed help. Upon his retirement from Ford in 1994, Russ and Lynn moved back to Ohio, settling in North Royalton to be nearer to family. A devout and faithful Roman Catholic and member third degree Knight of Columbus, Russ was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Parma, Ohio. Russ was preceded in death by his parents Seraphin J. Bouchez and Malvina (nee Swengross), and his sister, Margaret Bouchez Cavanaugh. His brother-in-law, Deacon Harry J. Broering, passed away on Apr. 21. In addition to his wife, Lynn, Russ is survived by his two daughters, Lisa, M. Bouchez (Richard Bevis) of Middletown, Ohio and L. Helena Bouchez (Jeff Brownstein) of Hopewell, New Jersey, and his sister, Irene Broering of Medina, Ohio. Russ also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as dedicated and compassionate caregivers Mellisa, Erika, Kendra, Katrina, Amber, Danielle and Marlene. He will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Crossroads Hospice of Dayton, 8069 Washington Village Dr., Dayton, OH 45458.
