RUTH LAZAR (nee Triggiano), age 95; beloved wife of the late George Lazar; cherished mother of Wayne Gregg, Linda Tumino (Sam), Laura Grace (Robert), Judy Grassi-Kovach (Bob) and James Grassi (Debra); grandmother of Kelly Rogers, Scott Bowler, Wayne Jason Gregg, Lisa Watson (Scott), Nicole Keller (Jeff), Anthony Grace (Chelsea), Heather Laughlin (Curt), Laura Grassi-Beck (Chad) and Dominick Grassi; great-grandmother of several and great great-grandmother of one; sister of Ralph Triggiano (deceased) (Jan) and the late Kakeen Triggiano, Michael Triggiano (Lena), Philomena Lisi (Gus), Amelia Leoce (Gregory), and Frank Triggiano (Doug).
Ruth’s Pa, Michael Triggiano often said to her in broken English, “Ruthie, you’re the worsta one!” To very young Ruth those were thought provoking words that would set the stage of who she was to become. As one of seven children tiny, petite Ruthie knew she had the recipe to stand tall among her siblings and throughout her life. When asked what she wanted her legacy to be she responded without hesitation. “I want to be remembered for being a good mother.” “Hey Kid,” she would say, “None of you ended up in prison.” Ruth grew up in the St. Rocco’s Italian neighborhood. People described her as feisty, spunky, confident, tough and unique. She sold shoes on E 4 th street. Ballroom dancing was Ruth’s passion well into her 80’s. Our final gift to our Ma was to honor her wishes to let her tell God when she was ready to go. She didn’t want God to tell her. It’s been a long and painful good-bye. But as in life she did it her way.
