Ruth V. Orndorff

Ruth V. Orndorff (nee Spence) was delivered into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on January 14, 2022. She was born to Luther and Pearl (Hellems) on November 13, 1938 in Green Valley, W.V. She had a wonderful childhood with her parents and younger brother David, except for one tragic event. She lost her best friend Karen O'Dell who died at a young age. She carried those bittersweet memories of Karen close to her heart the rest of her life. She graduated from Richwood High School. She worked at the coal mining company store during high school and continued after graduation. She married her beloved Reed Orndorff on August 2, 1959. They were married 48.5 years until his passing in 2008. She retired from Parma Hospital in Ohio where she worked as a nurse's aide, physical therapist assistant and EKG technician. Her hobbies were cooking/baking, tending to her beautiful flower garden and doing needlepoint during winter. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Beloved mother of Regina (Marty) Tisdale, Dareus (Catina) Orndorff, Camille (Darrell) Grindstaff. Cherished grandmother to Arwen Tisdale, Demetrius and Aiyana Orndorff. Devoted daughter to the late Luther and Pearl Spence, Sr. Daughter-in-law of the late Owen and Bessie (McClung) Orndorff. Loving sister of David and Debbie Spence, Jr. Sister-in-law of Emma Orndorff. Sister-in-law of the late Gilmer and Hilda White, Grig and Audrace Mattison, Elden Orndorff, Glendon and Hope Orndorff, Wyldon and Wanda Orndorff. Aunt of the late Mike and Karen Walker. She was the aunt of numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, great, great-nephews, and great, great- nieces. She had a large group of loving cousins that helped create her childhood. Visitation will be Thursday, January 20, 2022, 6:00-8:00pm at Wallace and Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, W.V. Funeral service will be on Friday, 10:00am at Mountain Baptist Church in Carl, W.V., officiated by Reverend Reginald Berry. Graveside burial will be immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Mountain Baptist church.
