STYLIANOS “STEVE” GEORGE PATERAS, age 83; of Hinckley, Ohio, born September 28, 1942 in Alexandria, Egypt. Passed away peacefully at his condo in Florida, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and unwavering pride. Loving husband of Maria (nee Papadelis) for 56 years; devoted father of Sophia Porter, George Pateras (Tamara) and Christina Maggos (Anastasios); dear Papou of Nicholas Boyk (fiancée, Michaela Day), Alexandra Boyk, Stylianos Pateras, Michael Pateras, Maria Maggos and Stratos Maggos; son of the late Mary and George Paterakis; dearest brother of Despina Papadakis (Adamandios) and Dimitrios Paterakis (deceased) (Irene); beloved cousin, uncle, great uncle and dear friend of many.
Stylianos was a loving husband to his wife, Maria and a devoted father, Papou, and family man. His greatest joy in life was his family. He cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, and nothing made him happier than being surrounded by those he loved.
Stylianos was a highly skilled welder whose talent and dedication took him around the world. He worked for Loffland Brothers Drilling Oil Company as a master welder, traveling extensively throughout his career. A remarkably intelligent and gifted man, he spoke six languages: Greek, Arabic, Italian, French, Spanish, and English. Later, he dedicated 32 years to General Motors in Brook Park, Ohio, where he worked as a respected tool and die welder until his retirement.
When he wasn't working, Stylianos enjoyed traveling to Greece, Australia and Florida to be with family and friends. He would often be found in his garage or workshop, happily tinkering, building, and fixing things with his hands. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and was never happier than when he was creating something or solving a problem.
Stylianos was a man of strength, dignity, and tremendous pride. He carried himself with honor throughout his life and remained true to himself until the day he rested. His work ethic, wisdom, and love for his family will be remembered and treasured by all who knew him.
Though he is no longer with us, the lessons he taught, the memories he created, the stories he told, and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
