Thomas J. Jakwerth

THOMAS J. JAKWERTH; passed away August 8, 2020 at the age of 89. Tom was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran who served during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. LSMR-517. He ran a successful bookkeeping company in Brook Park for many years. He loved politics, was a former Treasurer for the City of Brook Park and a member of the American Legion Post 610. Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Helen Jakwerth, brothers Raymond Jakwerth and Ralph Jakwerth. He is survived by his children Donna Collins, Debbie Shaffer (Chris), Thomas E. Jakwerth (Janet), brother Donald Jakwerth (Mary), sister Mary Jakwerth; grandchildren Megan Marlette (Tony), Kevin Collins (Kelsey), Alex Shaffer, Tim Shaffer (Taylor), Jessica Bibbo (Kevin), Jenna Jakwerth; great-grandchildren Harper, Hudson and Asher Bibbo. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org , or the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org . Private family services. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
