Walter “Nick” Gramp, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 6, 2026, his 76th birthday. He was born on September 6, 1950, and spent his life making a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Nick was a familiar face and a valued member of the community. In the North Royalton area, it seemed as though everyone knew Nick, not only his name and face, but also the warmth, kindness, and personality that made him impossible to forget. For many years, Nick was everyone's favorite neighborhood bartender, welcoming friends, regulars, and newcomers alike at Carrie Cerino’s. He had a special way of making people feel welcome and could turn a simple conversation into a lasting friendship.

His love for people and his passion for the restaurant and hospitality business eventually led him to fulfill a dream of owning a place of his own. Nick opened Charlie’s in Brecksville, Ohio, where he continued doing what he loved most; bringing people together, sharing laughs, creating friendships, and making everyone around him feel like family.

While Nick loved his work and the countless friendships he built throughout the years, his greatest joy was his family. He was a proud father to Nick Gramp and his wife, Stacy; a loving stepfather to Sean Bolek; and a cherished grandfather to Nicholas Gramp, Ryleigh Gramp, Molly Walton, Jack Gramp, and Grady Bolek. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Westin Gramp. Nick was also the beloved brother of Alice Gramp and a loving uncle to Andy Leckband and his wife, Betsy. His family was an important part of his life, and the memories they shared with him will continue to live on through generations.

Outside of his family and his work, Nick had an incredible passion for golf. Golf was more than just a hobby to him; it was one of the great joys of his life. Whether he was on the course, talking about his latest round, or simply enjoying the game with friends, golf was a place where Nick found happiness, relaxation, and friendship.

Nick had a personality that drew people toward him. He genuinely cared about others and had a heart that seemed to have room for everyone. He loved people, loved being surrounded by friends and family, and never seemed to meet a stranger for long. Throughout his life, Nick formed friendships that stood the test of time, including many friendships that lasted more than 40 years. Those who knew him will remember his ability to make people laugh, his welcoming nature, and the way he made people feel seen and appreciated.

Nick was also, without question, a hopeless romantic. Over the years, he experienced love and marriage four times, always believing in love and embracing the relationships and people who became part of his life along the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Trina Gramp, and his stepson, Scott Bolek.

Although his family and friends are heartbroken by the loss of Nick, they take comfort in knowing that his life was filled with friendship, laughter, love, and countless memories. His impact on the North Royalton community and on the many people whose lives he touched will not soon be forgotten.

Walter “Nick” Gramp will be deeply missed by his family, his lifelong friends, the many people he met throughout his years in the hospitality business, his fellow golf enthusiasts, and the countless individuals who simply knew him as Nick, the friendly face who always had time for a conversation and never met a stranger.

His legacy will live on in the stories shared around family tables, on golf courses, in old friendships that continue to be cherished, and in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, family, and friends. Though Nick may no longer be with us, the laughter, love, friendships, and memories he created during his 76 years will remain with those who were lucky enough to know and love him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at THE RIPEPI FUNERAL HOME, 5762 PEARL RD. (AT SNOW RD.) SATURDAY, September 12, 2026 from 2-4 p.m.
