William Scott Derkin

WILLIAM SCOTT DERKIN, age 79; passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, May 31, 2024. Loving father of Jacob and Joseph (Hannah); proud grandfather of Owen Scott; beloved son of the late William and Anna; loving brother of Nanette “Chi Chi” Adams (Michael) and Faithann Zanney (James); life companion and soulmate of Margaret Gardner; beloved uncle, great-uncle and dear friend of many. Scott was a Vietnam Veteran and retired as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army. He was a proud graduate of St. Ignatius High School, John Carroll University and Case Western Reserve Law School. He was a well-respected attorney in the Cleveland area for over 40 years specializing in litigation. Scott was a friend to all animals, an avid bird watcher, and was also involved in animal rescue and rehabilitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Northeast Ohio SPCA, www.northeastohiospca.org or the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center, www.lensc.org. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 5891 Ridge Rd., Parma, Monday, June 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. With Interment to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Family and friends received at THE RIPEPI FUNERAL HOME, 5762 PEARL RD.
