William (Bill) Frederick Dixon , loving husband and father , died peacefully on April 3, 202 2 at Mt. Alverna Village .

Bill was born in Sayre, PA on September 12 th , 1940 , to Clifford Clyde and Helen ( VanDuzer ) Dixon .

In 1942 William was blessed with a brother, Richard Clyde Dixon.  William graduated from Waverly High School in 1958 after lettering in wrestling .  William joined the Coast Guard right out of High School and worked his way up to Master Chief Radioman. After tours in Japan, Alaska and Hawaii, Bill became pen pals with Judith Gail Edgar in 1960 .  Bill’s best friend, Bruce McQueen and a friend of Judy’s arranged the pen pal relationship. After writing to each other for over a year, Bill and Judy finally met and fell in love.  They were married on January 7 th , 1963.  Over the years Bill and Judy were blessed with 4 beautiful daughters they loved with all their hearts; Jennifer Lynn in 1963, Janice Elaine in 1966, Patricia Ann in 1967 and Pamela Jean in 1969.

Bill and Judy raised their girls in home s filled with love all over the coast of the United States . Over the years, they were stationed in Ohio, New York, Washington State, California and Connecticut.  They spent much of their free time camping in mountains and parks everywhere they went.  Bill’s family is left with amazing memories of fun family times.

After 23 years in the Coast Guard, Bill retired in Montville Connecticut.  When he retired in 1981 he was the highest ranking non-commissioned officer at the United States Coast Guard Academy. Bill returned to school after his retirement and earned a degree in Accounting from Mohegan Community College. He then moved on to become a Marine Electrician wiring Nuclear Submarines at Electric Boat where he earned a 2 nd retirement.

Over the years Bill’s daughters married giving him 4 son-in-laws and 12 grandchildren he was very proud of.  Jennifer married Thomas Herrity , Janice , divorced, married Brian Anderson, Patricia married Kenneth Franco and Pamela married Kevin Campbell. Bill was incredibly proud of his grandchildren; Jessica Franco, Kelsey Techera (Janice), Patrick Herrity and his wife Lauren , Anthony Franco, Shannon Herrity , Emily Techera (Janice), Matthew Herrity , Tyler Campbell, Morgan Campbell, Gabrielle Anderson ( Sanchez ) and Blade Anderson.  William was also blessed with 2 great-grandchildren, Georgia Sanchez and Ricky Sanchez.

After retiring from Electric Boat in 1996, Bill and Judy retired to Florida where they lived happily for 8 years.  After visiting their longtime friends, the couple who introduced them, Bruce and Jud ie McQueen , Bill and Judy moved to Loxley, Alabama where they enjoyed 15 more years of retirement together .  They traveled the world visiting France, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, Canada, South America, Hawaii and enjoyed numerous cruises and vacation tours around the United States.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, his brother , his brother - in - law and sister-in-law , Ralph and Fran Edgar.  Bill is survived by his wife, his sister - in - law, Lee Dixon, b rother - in - law Daniel Edgar and his wife C o n na , his 4 daughters, his 4 son - in - laws, his 1 2 grandchildren , 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  Bill is loved by many and will be sadly missed.
